8th of April- Día Internacional del Pueblo Gitano- International Roma Day
On 8th of April is the International Roma Day, to remember the history of Roma. This date, commemorates the Fisrt Roma World Congress held in London on 8th of April 1971, where the Roma flag (bandera) and anthem where established. For this reason, during these days different commemorative events are happening.
In this day we attended in an event in Granada. It was organized in the street (calle). There were a lot of people. We arrived a little bit early, but we had time to speak with Rom children. It was just a few words, but the were really curious. We heard the anthem and saw flamenco. After that the people strewed flowers (flores) and little candles (velas) in the river. It was colorful and calmy (silencio). I really enjoyed it.
In the evening, when the sun went down, the City Hall of Granada (Ayuntamiento de Granada) was painted with light as the flag.
In April (Abril) started the Primavera Musical en Granada and we enjoyed the music of Otro Golpe in the Fuente de las Batallas. And of course I ate a kebab with Didi :D
